A what...?

Noomi - a Dollmore Mokashura, my third doll.
- Hey, I collect BJD’s!

- You collect what?

That is the way it goes. And that is okay. I’m glad to share my strange hobby, an adult collecting dolls with ball joints. It is like humans, the dolls have joints as we do – knees, elbows, waist and so on. The dolls are very flexible and you can pose them in very lifelike ways. I have seen photos of dolls that look as humans at the first look. The BJD’s can sit and stand unaided and do not need a stand as other dolls like Barbie do.

And that is not all. You can design to your own wish, do or order a custom doll. With a BJD you can change not just the clothes and shoes but even their hair, body parts, face up, eyes, shape and so on. Only your imagination can stop you. Your doll can look as you want it, as an owner and there will not be another doll like yours. In the whole world.

Make a search on the internet after Ball Jointed Dolls or Asian Ball Jointed dolls and you can see the variety among these cuties. All from human like to vampires, trolls, baby dolls and much, much more.

Doll-surfing

To sit on a calm evening, during the weekend – or on other days too – and surf on doll shop pages is something I like to do. It is always wonderful to see new dolls, get inspired when it comes to the fashion and different photo shoots and even tutorials. In the beginning of my interest I often looked at different pages and wished I could order a special doll.

One of my fave dolls are Amy with B-type make up or Lonnie (B-type) and even Bonnie (A-type) or Serca (A-type). I have not shopped from Iplehouse, at all, and mostly I have heard good reviews about the place – with quick service and nice people. So far I have been doing my shopping at Dollmore, and there I know what I get and what I can expect. I am more than pleased. From there I would not say no to a Narsha Girl – Encre Violette or a Mokashura Doll.

Right now I am just dreaming of a smaller (26 cm and down) doll. It will be interesting to see what I may find. I have even been thinking about a Blythe doll and I think it is only a matter of time before I breakdown and get one. There is something strange, but even cute, about these dolls with oversized heads and eyes. Creepy and at the same time aaaw, look at that cuteness.

Well, the future will let us know how things end up. Have a happy weekend!

Esther

My first doll - Esther
It was in summer 2007, when I bought my first magazine about ball jointed dolls, about the collectors and stories around all things that is about BJD. For four years and read that same magazine and collected information about where to buy, what doll to begin with and if they could delivery to a country far up north, som small and partly unknown. When I found my doll – a Dollmore Basic Sleepy Narsha, I knew that this was the place for me and I made an account and started to surf on that site. In January 2011 I made the plundge and ordered the doll. The waiting for her to be delivered was almost killing me. She arrived several weeks later and looked so beautiful. I named her Esther, from the Bible. She is special to me.

Miss the summer!

Legs and shoes
Last year, during the summer, we stayed at the cottage we have in south Sweden. I took my dolls to the forest nearby and had a photoshoot. Over there I can just take a walk on the grovel road and enjoy my hobbis – nature, photography and dolls. Over here, where I live, it is more eyes and I imagine that people think a lot when they see a 40-something-yeared mum with dolls under her arm. So, I try to avoid that and mostly take photos indoors during the season we are here. The light is not the same and because of that the photos are not always to my liking. But I have been thinking. There is a lot of beautiful nature here and I have a car, so what not do a combo of those two someday.
